That last 2 years have been a little up and down for me. As something hits something else dips. Just as I think I have a technique nailed a variable in the background changes and screws the whole thing. This was until the last 4 months. I’m now starting to have some nice success with affiliate marketing of the organic kind. So much so that I’ve got my method nailed down tight enought that I can follow my own recipe and within 6-8 weeks be making affiliate income out of a niche. My success rate at the moment is 77%, of the 9 niches I’ve setup in 7 are making an affiliate income. These aren’t micro niches either, online dating is just one area I’ve setup in and I’m now driving affiliate sales from organic traffic. So what does this have to do with you? My recipe, I’m prepared (I think) to share it, but before I go to the effort of documenting it I’d like to know what interest there is first?
The biggest stumbling block to this is that it requires some initial financial outlay. Not to me of course, well unless I decide to sell the information that is, but to get the tools you need to have this work. Whilst it isn’t a fully automated process it certainly egdes towards that side of the “pay/hard work” balance. If I was doing what I was doing manually then there just wouldn’t be enough hours in the day.
I’m not talking mega bucks here either, a hundred dollars tops to get started and then 2 recurring service fees. Once you’ve got it setup though you can try as many niches as you like with minimal extra cost.
So what I need to know is what sort of demand is there out there for this information? This will have a huge influence on if I take the time out to do this. Let me be perfectly clear here, I’m already a bit nervous about the whole thing. As I wrote in my 10 reasons to give up blogging post I’m very aware of people hammering EXACTLY what I write about and impacting my own income. There’s also the fact that I’ll be detailing 1 and possibly 2 of my own programs for public use/abuse. On the flip side I started this blog to try and help other people make more money from the internet so it’s a tough decision to make.
The other question as well is if I do decide to do this how would you rather have the information, in a password protected blog post or in e-book format?

I’ve been lurking here for a week or two and like what I’ve seen. I found your blog while looking for ways to do just what you appear to be doing, and that is providing really helpful information while being able to earn a few honest, no hype dollars without being obtrusive.
Maybe you should give your followers your recipe in a password protected blog post rather than an ebook because would be less work for you.
However, having it in ebook format on my hard drive would be a great convenience.

I’d love to see this information put out there. It shouldn’t be any surprise that people who read your work are probably looking to get their foot in the door in affiliate marketing. Therefore I would say you shouldn’t wait for other people to comment about if they think it would be useful, because IT WILL BE, guaranteed.
As for how you distribute this information (blog post or ebook) why not do both? Make a password protected blog post with that information, AND a link to download the eBook with that same info.
I know I’d be very interested to hear you talk about your strategy for affiliate marketing and I know other readers here would as well.

I’m just beginning to get started with affiliate marketing, so I would definitely be interested in hearing how others have made it work for them.

OK, so there seems to be decent interest. I’m going to speak to the wife about it first (yes, it’s that important
) but in the mean time I’ll answer a couple of your comemnts.
@Nick + Deneil – Thanks for the encouragement. Deneil once it’s up and running there shouldn’t be any amendments needed, it’s nothing but good solid basics so if they stop working it’ll be on to the next thing
@Stefan – No way will I be giving away domain names, I’m very cautious about mentioning specific niches even. It’s a technique that has so far proved effective in most ncihes no I’m hoping to get away without micro niche specifics.
@Chris – Thanks. I’m not so worried about being pushed out as what Stefan suggests. Been there, done that and bought the book so to speak!
@Geek – I’m a huge fan of my Sony Reader, hence the idea for an e-book format.
@Stan – I’ll fire the password over to you in a minute, you’re definitely the last to get it though!
@Alex – The thing is people will consume any information that is out there. If I did this I’d want people to genuinely be interested and excited about it, I’d want there to be a buzz. That’s the ROI for me.
As for people who want to know how I make my money? It very simple. I do my best to position websites (a combo of blogs and static content sites) in the SERPs and get organic traffic. I used to convert this into money via adsense, I now rely on affiliate sales. On top of this I use my own $100 day method to get traffic in another way and keep some Adsense flowing. Finally I dabble in low rent PPC. It’s as simple as that really. The real magic is getting enough good traffic to convert into money, but that’s where my method comes in
