Ever since I announced that the Make Money Online was showing a predicted page rank of 5 the number of comments here increased significantly. This is great, I never ever imagined that I’d have such an active little blog this early into my blogging career. Some of these commentators really make this a great place to visit, Michelle, SEO Optimization and a few of you other guys add to posts with your comments and it’s really appreciated.
However on the other side of things ever since the PR5 announcement there has also been a large increase in what I like to call shit comments. They’re not strictly spam, they’re just a crap few words from somebody who hasn’t even bothered to read the post! I suppose I should be grateful as they make this blog look even more popular but I’m just beginning to get a little annoyed with it. I’m not asking much, just that you read the post you’re commenting on before posting a comment. I think that from now on I’m going to start deleting shit comments, it’s just not fair on those genuine people who take the time to read what is posted here.

My blog is not yet very large, so luckily I don’t have to deal with this yet, but it seems quite irritating to me. Comments that are on the edge of spam, but that also can be seen as an addition to your blog, as they make it seem like your blog is more active (which is a plus for advertisers
I don’t know yet what I’m going to do with it, but I wish you good luck on deciding what to do with it.
Btw, I subscribed to your feed, just because I think you have great content, and a nice site. Keep going!

Unless those spammers make the Top Commentators list, their comments probably wont be of much use to them as far as PR is concerned. I think spam comments are mostly used to get extra traffic rather than extra PR juice -as they call it-. Since you never know which post page will actually get a decent PR.

I don’t really mind if people just post without reading the full post because it does make your blog look more popular.
I don’t see the harm really.

Running a dofollow blog ain’t easy as you get a whole lot of crappy comments. It no longer bothers me as it did in the beginning cos all I have to do is press the DELETE button and move on with my life. Disrepect my comment policy equals your comments being deleted.
|Top Commentators on my blog is also nofollowed.

@Caden Grant: Spam comments make your blog posts look like sh*t! When reasonable conversation is going on on certain posts, it helps generate lots of interest.
