Please do not take this the wrong way, no offence is meant in any of this post I really liked most of the people I met on holiday – it’s just an observation.
I recently got back from our summer holiday, a lovely cruise around the Mediterranean. We’ve done similar in the past but what made this different was that we were cruising with an American Company with mainly American guests. I’ve been to America before and even 1 or 2 Americans have found their way to living on our little island in the middle of nowhere but I’ve never had the chance to get to know so many so well. Just by observing how they handle different situations the cultural difference in how we shop between us Brits and you guys is massive and I wanted to share some of that.

I think that everybody knows that how long you have owned your domain has some impact on your search rankings. Google has made this widely known and so every SEO expert has an opinion on it. What I would guess though is that most people don’t realise just HOW important domain age is, I know I didn’t until a recent example highlighted it to me.

There seems to be plenty of people willing to over complicate the whole business of picking a domain name. To some extent I don’t blame them, it’s really hard to write a lengthy article or interesting sounding chapter in an e-book about something that in reality is actually very simple! In my opinion buying “the right domain” is simple, really really simple.

Everybody and their cat, dog and Budgie is looking for more backlinks for their website(s). Getting that right mix of links is vital for rankings with Bing, Yahoo and especially Google. Where people tend to freak out with gaining backlinks is that for the most part the best links are completely out of our control. The 100% natural backlink gained for its own merits by a friendly webmaster is the ultimate link. In saying that there are 1 or 2 places available online where as long as we put in the a little bit of work we can gain decent quality links all without needing to “ask” for anything (The lack of social interaction between webmasters is something I find funny, 99% of the contact I get from other webmasters is auto spam for a link exchange). Anyway, here is one such place where you can get a good quality backlink for a small amount of work.

Making the move from using Adsense exclusively and starting to add CPA offers to your pages can be a bit scary. I was asked about this in an e-mail last week and thought that there are probably quite a few people out there who are stuck on the same thing. Going from only having Adsense on your pages can be a little daunting so this is how I promote CPA offers on my pages, using only organic traffic (All the way through this I’m talking about adding CPA offers to your keyword targeted content pages and the organic traffic you get. It’s a totally different story if you’re buying traffic!)

I’ve just done my post month checks for February and noticed that I’d jumped way up the rankings for a keyword I set out to target in early January. I thought it would be interesting to see if the jump in ranking coincided with a jump in income. Boy did it. Here are the screen shots for the 1 full day I was at number 1 for my target search phrase (please keep in mind that these screen shots ONLY relate to that 1 page where possible):-

Chances are if you’ve found my blog it’s because you are interested in making some money online? It’s what I target for and if that’s not why you’re here then I’ve screwed up somewhere along the line. If you are here to learn about making money online then I have a confession to make. As much as I may mention Rowse, Chow, Shoemoney, Johnson etc etc in the odd post it’s not their blogs that have influenced me. Not at all. The foundations for making money online are simply getting enough search traffic and giving people what they are looking for. Big name bloggers don’t teach that. Gimmick this, build a community that. Social traffic is shit for 99% of people. The only way to create money from a community is to play on your trust – tell them something is good and hope that they believe you. Targeted search traffic makes money 100% of the time. I have skirted around the subject myself but never to the extent of the blogs I am about to tell you about. I like irony so in a true Darren Rowse “Problogger” List Post stylee here are the only 3 blogs you must read to make money online:-

**Update**
I’ve just watched the first video of month 2 and it looks like we’re going to get in to a lot of the social media stuff this month. Even the first video had some nice tips that provide useful insight in how to take advantage of various services. The second month looks much better than the first in the Shoemoney System, which I guess is what you’d expect from a 12 month course
=====================================
I’m going to write this post straight from the top of my head. I’ll apologise in advance if it starts to wander but I find that when I just write things down this way without too much extra thought the result is a much more honest opinion. So I’ll write down what I’ve thought of the first month of the Shoemoney System and then try to judge if it’s positive or not at the end.
