McLaren F1 vs Bugatti Veyron

People moan about the BBC wasting money in the UK. But just then they go and put something awesome out like this from last nights Top Gear program. Watch the worlds 2 fastest road cars duke it out on the closed roads of Dubai, Saudi Arabia. The video has really helped me to make my mind up about which car I’ll be buying next when the Rover finally dies!

Dangers of SEO Over Optimization

June 28th, 2009 2 Comments

Check out this video from Google’s own Matt Cutts where he talks about the dangers of over optimizing your website for the search engines. A lot of what Matt says here is just common sense, at least for anybody who has been in this game for more than a couple of years. There were certain things we could do just 2 years ago that would have a positive effect on our rankings where today they would have a negative effect. The key points with SEO in 2009 seem to be “everything in moderation” and “make it natural”.

Are You Still Ignoring Me?

June 26th, 2009 7 Comments

I bet the vast majority of you are?! You’ll read what I write, you may even agree with some of it. That’s where it ends. The majority of you will not take any action on what I’m saying. You know it’s true, I know it’s true, I read other peoples blogs and do exactly the same. The problem is that amongst all the rubbish that is written on the web there are some real gems of information that should never be ignored. This is one of them.

Project Payday – Requires Effort But It Works

June 25th, 2009 3 Comments Project Payday – Requires Effort But It Works

Let me get a disclaimer out straight away, Project Payday only accept US and Canadian residents into their system. Because of that I have never had the chance to use it first hand. The thing is I have never ever recommended anything from my blog that I haven’t personally tried before until now. The reason I’m putting Project Payday out there is simply down to the number of e-mails I receive relating to my $100 Adsense day post from people who are desperate for money quickly. “Can I speed it up?”, “Are there any shortcuts?” etc etc Sure we’d all like a quick buck but with the way things are at the moment I get the impression that rather than just being greedy some people are genuinely up to their necks in shit. Most ways of making money online require time and patience (and money). Before going away I put it on my “to do” list to try and source something (anything) online that gives people the opportunity to earn without having to wait a long time for results. The compromise is that instead of taking time it will take effort. Project Payday was the best I could come up with – and here’s the second part of the disclaimer, Project Payday requires you to work at it, it’s not a sit on your bum and wait for the money to role in system, you actively have to work at it. The good news is that if you do, it might just provide you with a way and means of keeping your head above water.

My HomePages Friends Call It A Day

June 23rd, 2009 4 Comments

I’ve liked using the My Homepages Friends service, in the time I’ve been using them I’ve made almost £80 just from internet searches. It’s been a nice little win/win situation.

However, I’ve just received notification that they are changing their business model, instead of paying you for your searches they are going to give the money to charity on your behalf. Whilst that is all well and good it’ll kill the service over night. People use it because they want to earn money by searching the internet, not because they want to give to charity. There are plenty of other ways of doing that.

It’s been good whilst it lasted but the simple solution for me now is to change over to SwagBucks, I’ve already got a couple of hundred points from my referrals so it should take me no time at all to be redeeming some decent rewards.

You heard it here first, SwagBucks is the future of paid to search!

Are You Cut Out For PPC Affiliate Marketing?

June 22nd, 2009 4 Comments

The reason I ask is because I don’t think I am. I don’t think that I’m prepared to manage something that is so sensitive and delicate. An activity that requires such huge amounts of micro-management to get the most from it. When I started making money online I had dreams of a passive income, of making money without the need to trawl through every detail with a fine tooth comb and be constantly monitoring things. There are a number of reasons why I don’t think I’m cut out to do PPC and here they are:-

Holidays – Not Worth The Trouble But A Great Source Of Content

June 20th, 2009 3 Comments

Finally back to civilisation. My 2 weeks of cruising around the Med was supposed to be about having a break and relaxing. It was a good holiday but for the money it cost it disappointed in so many ways. Just enough to say that “the cruise for people who don’t do cruises” is in fact nothing more than just another “cruise for people who do cruises”. I’ve never seen so many walking sticks and wheelchairs in my life, not to mention a lack of sport or activity of any type! I went away expecting fun days out and nights at the bar and got a boat full of geriatrics and non stop lounge music. Not only that but we came home to a flooded kitchen and the need to pay for plumbers, electricians, decorators and a new toilet, never again! Amongst all this doom and gloom (and throwing good money after bad) there was some good news though, content – and plenty of it.
