Google Analytics Is Down

I’ve just gone to check my clients stats, it’s something that I do very day. However today there seems to be a problem, looks like Google Analytics is down. It’s funny but I never realised how much I depended on this free service from Google until it’s not there. There appear to have been no updates since sometime early on Saturday 28th July.

In the past I spent many thousands of pounds geting the sort of statistics that Google Analytics gives me for free, key areas being total unique visitors, referring search terms and perhaps more importantly for e-commerce websites goal conversion. It’s these figures that can help turn an ordinary website into a money making website. When Google release the analytics product I was one of the first to sign up, more to see how it compared with my paid services than anything, I was shocked when I found out it was better! Whilst it may not be server log driven but rather uses cookies I’ve so far found the data to be more accurate if anything. My custoemrs aren’t interested in how often a search robot comes by, they care about sales and it’s this that Google Analytics shows, how your visitors react to your website.

I’m sure analytics data will be flowing again soon and I’d advise anybody not using Google Analytics yet to get signed up and give it a go. It’s easy setup with very good data mining and all for free.

I’ve Got Top Natural Rankings, Is AdWords Worth it?

This is a question I see quite a lot. Is it really worth paying for traffic when you already rank well for your primary keyword targets? It all depends on a number of things, but in general if you are selling a product or service from your website then the answer is yes!
