Every now and then I get fed up with blogging, it usually comes down to one or 2 reasons but I guess over the years there have actually been quite a few. To be fair some of these points are specific to the make money online niche but they could relate to other areas where blogs are popular. I’ve decided to list my top 10 reasons for giving up blogging:-
1. It is BY FAR the least profitable use of my time I’ve found online
2. I hate dealing with hundreds of spam comments every day
3. Readers who are demanding yet contribute nothing. If I haven’t responded to your e-mail it’s because it’s either a stupid question or the answer is openly available on the blog.
4. Never ending updates to Word Press, it’s enough to make you write your own CMS!
5. The feeling that I’m giving too much away, I can fully understand why 99% of bloggers in this niche push out “you can do it” and “making money is a mind set” nothing posts.
6. I kill my own income streams. Seriously, every time I write something up a hundred people jump on it but rather than adding their own spin they have to do EXACTLY what I’m doing. It’s the whole reason I’m pulling the $100 Day Adsense post – I’m staggered at how many people can’t think of niches to target?????
7. Pretenders. There is definitely an under current of people in the MMO niche that will never ever make any real money online because they are terrified of spending money. They are usually first to comment with something like “I’m definitely going to do this”. They see everything I write as a con or trick designed to get them to part with money. This doesn’t exist in any other niche I work in. If I say something works it is because I am using it and IT WORKS.
8. I don’t need to blog, it does not improve my life in any way shape or form.
9. I hate the label blogger, I don’t know why. I’d rather be labelled as a Catholic than as a blogger (I’m not by the way)
And finally my favourite for today -
10. “You made a spelling mistake”, e-mails. Nope, the odds are that I either made a typo or I’m targeting a typo search phrase (I can spell but I’m not a professional typist) but thank you very much for e-mailing me about it THREE F’ING TIMES!
So there we have 10 solid reasons why to give up blogging. But if I did that where would I write down my rants when I wake up in a grump?

A tiring feeling as if you are fed-up with what you are doing, especially when you do not see anything coming from your works (monetary, I mean) and you are ready to give up blogging.
|Interesting points and reasons to quit blogging. But I have just one reason to keep blogging. It is to not wake up for an early shift at office and spend the day at some cool place of my choice instead of the boring office.

You make some valid points but I will disagree with you on point 1. Writing blog posts is an excellent way to generate search engine traffic. If you do the proper keyword research and on page optimization blogs are far better traffic generators than static websites.

I know these MMO people really suck I see sites claiming to make money online then you look at the layout of the page and see how crap it is and there is no way they can make money from those pages with their layout.the Ads Stand out way too much and they have hundreds of Gadgets that will drive traffic from their site because they don’t use target_Blank.I think you could expand this list to 100 reasons as for the spelling mistake emails.I can say that it often happens me that my cursor jumps and these are 80 % of my Spelling mistakes but I guess everyone get’s Sick of Blogging no there will be 1000′s of posts on this topic in the next few weeks I suppose.

@marcus – Sorry but not in my experience. Blogs (even highly optimized wordpress blogs) do not have the authority of a well done content website. My top 10 performing websites are all none blogs, require no updates from month to month and between them hold numerous top 3 |Google rankings for hugely competitive phrases generating 100,000+ uniques a day. Just my opinion but the ease of use of blogging platforms works against them. But each to their own

I’m in the process of doing up some static content sites to see how well then can perform. It still comes down to the same basics though no matter if its a wordpress site or not, quality unique content with proper on page SEO and a solid link building plan are required.. No amount of “hoping” will replace those things.
